Hi, I’m Jules

My name is Julian Newson, but most people call me Jules. I began an apprenticeship in engineering fabrication in 1999. After finishing my trade qualification, I stayed with that employer for a number of years in the sheet metal and architectural engineering sector, then went out on my own in 2006. It didn’t take long to discover the great little niche that is aluminium gates, and I haven’t looked back.

There have been a couple of company name changes along the way, and I now trade under my own name as Jules Makes Gates. I’m a Levin-based business.

What I make

I specialise in making and installing aluminium driveway, pedestrian and sliding gates and panels. They add safety and security and make your property look good. All my gates are custom made to suit your exact requirements. Nothing is off the shelf or cut down to fit, and I’ll take on the tricky jobs that others pass by. You can choose from plenty of previous jobs, or I can build to your own design.

All gates and panels are powder coated in your choice of colour. Sliding and swing gates can be automated to make life a bit easier, and I work with an experienced electrician who specialises in gate automation.

Gates are the main job, but I also build aluminium trailers, picnic tables, fencing and panels and all sorts of custom fabrication, and I do repairs too.

Send me photos, measurements and a few details and I’ll price it up. In the Horowhenua I’ll come out and measure up for free. If you’re further afield and would like me to come out, give me a call and we’ll talk it through. Anywhere else in New Zealand, I’ll build to your measurements or drawings and send the gate to your installer.
