Built for automation from the start
Sliding and swing gates can be automated to make life a bit easier. A gate that will be automated needs to be built for it: square, rigid and running smoothly, so the opener isn’t fighting the gate. Aluminium is light, which is easier on the motor and helps it last.
Fitted by a specialist
Jules builds and installs the gate, and the opener is fitted by an experienced electrician who specialises in gate automation. Jules passes on your details and liaises for you, so you deal with Jules from the first measure to the finished gate.
Opener options
The right opener depends on the gate and the site. Depending on the opener, options can include remote controls, keypads, safety sensors and battery backup. For rural gates a long way from the house, solar-powered openers mean you don’t need to run power down the driveway.
Already have a gate?
If your existing gate is in good condition, it may be possible to automate it. Jules can check it and tell you what changes, if any, it would need first. See gate repairs.

Is a sliding or swing gate better for automation?
Both automate well. Sliding gates suit sloping or short driveways and places without room for a gate to swing. Swing gates suit wide, flat entrances.
What if there is no power at the gate?
Solar-powered openers are an option for many gates, especially on rural properties where running power to the gate would be expensive.
Who fits the automation?
Jules builds and installs the gate, and the opener is fitted by an experienced gate-automation electrician he works with.
Can I still open the gate in a power cut?
Most openers have a manual release so the gate can be opened by hand, and many can have battery backup. Ask about it when you get your quote.
