Posts that keep your gate hanging true
A gate is only as good as the posts it hangs on. Timber posts move and twist over time, which affects how a gate lines up and latches. Jules generally recommends metal posts where the existing posts are old, not rock solid or out of plumb, and for new gateways.
Aluminium or galvanised steel
Jules can supply heavy-duty gate posts in two kinds:
- 100 × 100 × 5 mm aluminium
- 100 × 100 × 4 mm galvanised steel
Both are powder coated in your choice of colour, and both have a radius on the edges for a softer look and feel. When you need new posts, Jules measures the gate once they’re in, so it fits them exactly.

Can I hang new gates on my existing timber posts?
Jules recommends metal posts where the existing ones are old, loose or out of plumb, because timber moves and twists over time. He can supply 100 × 100 mm aluminium or galvanised steel posts, powder coated to match.
Should I choose a sliding gate or a swing gate?
Sliding gates suit short or sloping driveways and places where there is no room for a gate to swing open. Swing gates suit wider, flatter driveways and rural entrances. Jules will talk you through what works best for your site.
How long does a custom gate take?
On average about 3 to 4 weeks from the 50% deposit to installation. It can be as short as 2 weeks, or a little longer, depending on materials, workload, powder coating and the weather. Jules will give you a timeframe with your quote.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. There's a 5-year warranty on workmanship. Materials aren't covered.
